The Molecular Magnetism and Molecular Materials group (LM4), which is part of CEDENNA's Nanostructure Chemistry research line, is receiving a visit these days from the French student Timéo Chamontin Le Fur, a student at the Institut Universitaire Technologique (IUT) of the French University of Rennes 1 in the city of Saint Brieuc.

This French institute offers its students several study alternatives (Biology, Science and Materials Engineering among others) that last 3 years. And Chamontin Le Fur belongs precisely to the area of Materials Science and Engineering, which teaches how to analyze metallic materials, polymeric compounds, ceramics and natural materials such as wood or natural fibers.

Like the CEDENNA department that receives it, this Unit synthesizes, designs and characterizes these materials. “We can also choose whether we prefer to do a professional alternation (working part-time in a company) or an internship in France or abroad. I chose to do an internship to continue my studies and I was excited to travel outside of Europe for the first time. And I chose CEDENNA because I love the laboratory work and the chemistry that is being done in Chile,” commented Timéo..

Your stay will be extended for 2 months to study especially ceramic materials.

For Professor Diego Venegas Yazigi, head of the laboratory, the visit of this student “gives Cedenna visibility in a foreign school dedicated to the study of materials. And for the students in the group it has been very enriching to receive a foreigner who comes to learn like them, which stimulates joint work and mutual understanding.”

“I hope that this visit means the arrival of more French students interested in doing these research stays in our laboratory,” he concluded.

The University of Rennes 1 specializes in Science, Technology, Law, Economics, Administration and Philosophy. It has existed since 1969 and has approximately 26,000 students and 1,900 teachers, but its history dates back to its predecessor the Breton University founded in 1461
