The Canal 13 program Espacio 13C highlighted CEDENNA's participation in a scientific and technological research project, recently awarded through the FONDEF competition, which aims to position Chile as a key player in the space industry.

This national initiative brings together universities, research centers, the Chilean Air Force, and an international company, with the shared goal of designing advanced coatings for nanosatellites.

The National Research and Development Agency (ANID) recently published a note highlighting the FONDEF project that seeks to promote the development of space technology in Chile, and in which the Center for the Development of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (CEDENNA) actively participates.

The initiative, funded by ANID and led by the Agricultural Research Institute (INIA), brings together specialists from different institutions, including USACH, Central University, Diego Portales University and the company DECCO.

The media outlet Cooperativa Ciencia highlighted CEDENNA's work within the framework of a national project that seeks to promote space innovation from Chile.

The initiative, led by Adolfo Ibáñez University (UAI) and with the participation of the University of Santiago de Chile (Usach) and CEDENNA, aims to develop advanced nanostructured coatings for nanosatellites, a true “smart protective skin” capable of reducing their weight, optimizing performance and generating savings of up to one million dollars per unit..

Dr. Juan Escrig Murúa, dean of the Faculty of Science at the University of Santiago, Chile and researcher at CEDENNA, recently published a reflection in CIPER entitled “We are infinite beings”, where he invites us to think about the mark that each person leaves on the universe.

The director of the Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (CEDENNA), Dr. Dora Altbir, participated in the program Sin Gravedad of Cooperativa Ciencia, hosted by Jorge Lira, where she addressed the main challenges and opportunities of the new institutional period after the awarding of the ANID 2025 national competition for Applied Research Centers.

CEDENNA researcher Dr. Patricia Díaz, along with Dr. Osvaldo Berger from the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the University of Santiago, Chile (USACH), were recognized by Cooperativa Ciencia for their work developing an innovative cell culture for corneal regeneration.

This research offers real hope for patients with limbal stem cell deficiency, a condition that currently lacks a cure. This advancement could allow for the recovery of vision and a significant improvement in the quality of life for many people.
