Nanotechnological sensor monitors metal detachments from mechanical mining shovels in real time. The solution improves processes and the safety of workers. It also increases the useful life of mining equipment. A problem present in the crushing process is the grinding of metallic elements from the teeth of mechanical mining shovels. For this reason, Cedenna presented a new technological solution to detect the fall of these teeth, avoiding accidents and work stoppages.

Submitted by olabrin on Thu, 01/02/2025 - 11:21

We highlight the opinion column by our director, Dr. Juan Escrig, published in Cooperativa under the title: “Nanotechnology, Drones and Fireworks: The art of illuminating the future.”

In this article, Dr. Escrig explores the positive impact that technologies such as nanotechnology can have on the evolution of traditional fireworks. He also emphasizes how these innovations contribute to reducing environmental impact:

Chilean agriculture adapts to climate change with nanotechnology

Submitted by olabrin on Thu, 12/26/2024 - 19:41

The digital media Núcleo Rural recently highlighted the article "Chilean agriculture adapts to climate change with nanotechnology", which addresses an innovative project led by Dr. Gustavo Zúñiga, researcher at CEDENNA and academic at the University of Santiago de Chile (USACH).

This project seeks to take advantage of the properties of native plants such as maqui and boldo to develop nanoparticles with unique applications. Among its benefits is the effective control of pests in crops, a key solution to face agricultural challenges in the context of climate change.

INN accreditation positions CEDENNA as a benchmark in the measurement of nanomaterial toxicity

Submitted by olabrin on Thu, 12/26/2024 - 19:39

The portal Ciencia en Chile recently highlighted the article entitled "INN Accreditation positions CEDENNA as a reference in the measurement of nanomaterial toxicity." In the article, Dr. Dora Altbir, director of the CEDENNA Foundation and National Prize for Exact Sciences, underlined the relevance of this certification: "The INN certification validates the technical competence and reliability of our Nanobioassay Laboratory, providing full confidence to companies that require our services.

INN accreditation positions Cedenna as a benchmark in the measurement of nanomaterial toxicity

Submitted by olabrin on Fri, 12/20/2024 - 17:40

Today we want to highlight the note published by USACH Al Día de la entitled "INN Accreditation positions CEDENNA as a reference in the measurement of nanomaterial toxicity"!

This important recognition of the Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (CEDENNA) marks a milestone in our research work. The accreditation of the Nanobioassay Laboratory under the NCh-ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard consolidates our position as a reference in the field, highlighting the ability to guarantee reliable and precise results in nanomaterial bioassays.

Participate in the webinar launching the course “Nanotechnology for Doctors in Chile”

Submitted by olabrin on Tue, 12/17/2024 - 12:20

Today we highlight the publication of the Chilean Medical Association (Colmed) on its website about the unprecedented collaboration between the CEDENNA Foundation and the Chilean Medical Association, where the webinar “Nanotechnology for the medicine of the future: a first step towards clinical innovation” is presented, an event that will serve as an opening for the course “Nanotechnology for Medical Professionals”.

Nanotechnology: The invisible thread behind the magic of Christmas

Submitted by olabrin on Tue, 12/17/2024 - 11:53

"When we think of Christmas, the last thing that usually comes to mind is nanotechnology. Twinkling lights, perfectly wrapped presents, shiny ornaments on the tree and cutting-edge gadgets seem more like the product of Christmas magic than scientific advances. However, this invisible magic has a name: nanotechnology."

Nanotechnology: A small world, big solutions

Submitted by olabrin on Mon, 11/11/2024 - 15:59

We highlight the opinion column of the Director of CEDENNA, Dr. Juan Escrig Murúa, published by the University of Santiago de Chile (USACH) within the framework of the celebration of Nanotechnology Day.

In his column, Dr. Escrig highlighted: “At CEDENNA we are committed to continuing to innovate, to continue collaborating with the public and private sectors, and to bring science closer to society. The challenges we face are great, but we are convinced that, on the nanometric scale, we can find great solutions.”
