Chilean nanotechnology for sustainable agriculture

An innovative strategy for addressing the challenges of sustainable agriculture was presented in the latest episode of the program ¿Qué es tu huella? (What's Your Footprint?), broadcast by TVN and Canal 24 Horas, which highlights the work led by Dr. Gustavo Zúñiga, a professor at the Faculty of Chemistry and Biology of the University of Santiago de Chile (USACH) and a researcher at the Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (CEDENNA).

Innovation in Nanotechnology for the Food Industry on Canal 24 Horas and TVN

The Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (CEDENNA) was featured on TVN's Agricultural Report, where innovative research was highlighted that seeks to extend the shelf life of food through the use of nanotechnology in packaging. The study, conducted by a team of researchers from CEDENNA and Laben Chile, develops new packaging materials with nanoparticles, which prevent the growth of fungi such as Botrytis cinerea (gray mold), responsible for significant losses in agricultural production, especially in fruits such as strawberries.

Outstanding participation in "Nanos a la Obra": Two National Awards explore the future of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology

"Nanos a la Obra": New CEDENNA and Radio Cooperativa Ciencia program premiered

On Thursday, August 8, the new program "Nanos a la Obra" premiered, created in an alliance between Radio Cooperativa Ciencia and CEDENNA to explore the most advanced research in nanoscience and nanotechnology in our country.

Every Thursday, at 12:00 PM, a different episode will be broadcast, with topics such as nanotechnology in mining, nanotechnology in medicine, nanotechnology in agriculture, nanotechnology in food, in the environment and nanosecurity, in construction and energy, and a special chapter, in which the future of nanoscience and nanotechnology will be discussed.

The TVN Agricultural Report and Channel 24 Horas featured the work of CEDENNA researcher and University of Santiago's Faculty of Chemistry and Biology professor, Dr. Luis Costandil, and his team. The report details the "Nanoencapsulated Biofungicides" project, which promises to revolutionize the protection of national vineyards and orchards, offering sustainable and effective solutions.

The new challenges of the nano world

In an entertaining interview, the Radio of the University of Chile had the Head of Technology Transfer Dr. Ricardo Ramírez as a guest in the first "A Tu Salud" of the year 2024, where he presented topics on nanotechnology and nanoscience in health fields, talking more specifically about the trajectory, strengths and new challenges that the nano world has in this area.
