Science connects us! Researchers from Arturo Prat University visit CEDENNA

Last Tuesday, August 5th, we enthusiastically welcomed a group of researchers from the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at Arturo Prat University (UNAP). They toured the Center's facilities and laboratories to learn more about our research in nanoscience and nanotechnology.

 

During the day, visitors explored our laboratories:

  • Transferencia Tecnológica

  • Microscopía Electrónica

  • Nanobiomedicina

  • Nanomagnetismo

  • Química de Nanoestructuras

Graduate students from the University of Talca visit CEDENNA for a training session.

As part of an enriching training day, we hosted graduate students from the University of Talca at the Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (CEDENNA). This activity allowed the students to gain insight into the scientific work we carry out in our laboratories, fostering the exchange of knowledge and experiences related to cutting-edge research.

During the tour, the students visited our laboratories:

CEDENNA opens its doors to the future of science

As part of its commitment to scientific outreach and community engagement, CEDENNA opens its doors monthly to students from various educational institutions across the country, offering them a unique experience: a first-hand look into the fascinating world of nanoscience and nanotechnology.

These visits are not just tours, but a valuable opportunity to awaken scientific vocations, promote critical thinking, and demonstrate how science is transformed into applied knowledge for the country's development.

The Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (CEDENNA) received a visit from students from Altomonte School, who toured our Electron Microscopy, Nanomagnetism, Packaging, Plant Biotechnology, Nanomedicine and Nanosecurity laboratories.

The day began with an introductory talk by CEDENNA researcher Dr. Juan Escrig, who explained in a friendly and educational way the fascinating world of nanotechnology and its many applications in everyday life.

Students from La Maisonnette School visit CEDENNA and learn about cutting-edge work in nanotechnology

A group of 39 students from La Maisonnette College visited the facilities of the Center for the Development of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (CEDENNA), participating in a guided tour of our main research laboratories.

Regional Secretary of the CTCI of Arica and Tarapacá visited CEDENNA and highlighted the potential of nanotechnology for regional development.

Alexia Vázquez, Regional Secretary of Science, Technology, Knowledge, and Innovation for the Arica, Parinacota, and Tarapacá regions, visited the facilities of the CEDENNA Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Center to learn more about the research and developments the center is promoting in the field of nanotechnology.

During her tour, the Seremi was able to learn about the advances being made in the microscopy, plant biotechnology, nanobiomedicine, nanostructure chemistry, and nanosecurity laboratories.

Dr. Dora Altbir speaks on nanotechnology and scientific leadership at an international symposium

CEDENNA Foundation Director Dr. Dora Altbir participated as a speaker at the symposium "Leadership and Management for Relevant Conversations about a Changing World." The CETRAM Corporation (Center for Movement Disorders), chaired by CEDENNA neurologist and nanobiomedicine researcher Dr. Pedro Chaná, has been selected worldwide as one of eight academic medical centers worthy of an international scholarship for training in advanced skills in the diagnosis and treatment of Parkinson's disease (PD) and other movement disorders.

CEDENNA at the International Workshop on Spintronics – Spin Galápagos 2025!

Between May 25 and 30, 2025, a team of researchers and a student from CEDENNA actively participated in the International Workshop on Spintronics (Spin Galápagos 2025), held at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito, on its beautiful San Cristóbal Campus, located in the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador.

During the event, Dr. Pedro Landeros gave a distinguished guest talk entitled “The toroidal moments in confined nanomagnets and their impact on magnonics,” in which he discussed in depth the role of toroidal moments in confined nanomagnets and their relevance to the field of magnonics.
