Chile hosted the International Symposium on Nanochemistry and Supramolecular Chemistry for the first time

Researchers from the Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (CEDENNA) once again put Chile on the international scientific map by playing a key role in organizing the International Symposium on Nanochemistry and Supramolecular Chemistry (ISNSC), which was held in South America for the first time in its history, with Chile as the host country.

This week we welcomed enthusiastic students from grades 9, 10, and 11 at Colegio María Inmaculada, who had the opportunity to delve into the fascinating world of nanoscience and nanotechnology.

Through a tour of our Microscopy, Nanomagnetism, Nanosafety, Nanostructure Chemistry, and Nanobiomedicine laboratories, the students learned firsthand about the work of our researchers, discovering how science connects with everyday life and paves the way to the future.

CEDENNA brings nanotechnology to the III Conference on National Space Sovereignty

With a large audience and prominent figures from the political, academic, scientific, and defense sectors, the III Conference on “National Space Sovereignty” was held in the Hall of Honor of the former National Congress building. The conference has become a key forum for strategic reflection on the challenges and opportunities of space development in Chile.

Open talks for students and teachers, an exhibition showcasing the most relevant research being conducted in Chile, and an opening conference led by Dr. Dora Altbir, 2019 National Prize for Exact Sciences recipient, along with government ministers, senators, and the Commander-in-Chief of the Chilean Air Force, marked the start of NanoWeek 2025, organized by the Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (CEDENNA).

Chilean technology for space: CEDENNA, UAI and Usach develop coatings for nanosatellites

An innovative national initiative seeks to position Chile as a key player in the development of technology for the space industry. This project, recently awarded through the Fondef competition, is led by Adolfo Ibáñez University (UAI) and directed by Dr. Alejandro Pereira. It brings together the University of Santiago (USACH), the Center for the Development of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (CEDENNA), the Chilean Air Force (FACH), and the Spanish company Nanostine.

CEDENNA wins the 2025 National Competition for Applied Research Centers (ANID)

The Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (CEDENNA) has once again been selected by the National Research and Development Agency (ANID) to receive state funding under the 2025 National Competition for Applied Research Centers. ANID's decision recognizes the outstanding work carried out by its researchers for over 15 years and ensures its continued status as one of Chile's leading centers for nanoscience and nanotechnology research.

Chilean science wins CORFO support to develop regenerative treatment against corneal blindness

The project “Development and Implementation of the Oral Epithelial Cell Culture Technique (COMET) for the Treatment of Patients with Bilateral Corneal Limbal Insufficiency,” led by Servicios Médicos Luis Pasteur S.A. with the participation of researchers from the Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (CEDENNA) and the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Santiago, Chile (USACH), was awarded funding by CORFO through the Crea y Valida program.

CEDENNA Launches a New Stage with an Interuniversity Model at the Service of the Country

With a gathering that brought together researchers, as well as technical and administrative teams, the Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (CEDENNA) officially launched a new stage as an Applied Research Center, following its success in securing the national ANID competition.
This new cycle positions the Center toward strengthening research with national impact, while preserving its multidisciplinary and interuniversity identity. Today, CEDENNA brings together academics from 18 universities across Chile.
